About the Team

VIZIO is looking for a highly technical, hands-on Senior Software Engineer for our Cloud Team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be building fault tolerant, and distributed software capable of processing millions of operations per minute coming from millions of TVs, efficiently store petabytes of data and provide fast insights from the data. This position can be located in Dallas, TX/ Denver, CO/ Irvine, CA/ Seattle, WA/ San Francisco, CA.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with Data Scientists, Engineers and Product management to understand data needs
  • Design and develop data schema and implementation strategy to provide fast analytics turnaround on petabytes of data
  • Design and implement strategy to manage data life-cycle
  • Design and develop data pipeline to move data from disparate sources for consolidation and analytics
  • Quickly come upto speed on current pipeline and analytics, identify areas of improvement and adopt industry best-practices for data processing, movement and management
  • Build robust monitoring infrastructure, develop tools as needed to get insights into various stages of data handling.
  • Evangelize design and processes for data handling, CI/CD, security, extensibility, maintainability etc. for big data software and services 

About You

  • 8+ years of professional experience in shipping data focused cloud software
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of system analysis, multi-threading, synchronization and distributed programming concepts
  • Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining data schema life-cycle
  • Experience with designing and implementing real-time and batch processing pipelines
  • Strong understanding of in-memory processing and data formats (Avro, Parquet, Json etc.)
  • Experience with automated analysis of data quality and validation
  • Hands-on experience with data transformation, SQL queries and optimization
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Hands-on Experience with the following or equivalent technologies - Spark, Kafka, Redshift, Relational/NoSQL DBs, Data lake engines (e.g. Databanks), Airflow, Data Warehouse (e.g. Snowflake), Apache Iceberg
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure – ideally Amazon AWS tools and services, e.g. Firehose, Glue, Kinesis etc.

For Colorado-based employment: The minimum salary for this position is $142,000/year. The compensation package includes quarterly bonus in addition to a range of medical, dental, vision, financial and other benefits.
